We are excited to announce the acquisition of the Wargate Books catalog in a full rights sale, a publisher most known for military science fiction. AETHON started in science fiction and has always championed the genre. While it is not as popular as it was, it is our ultimate goal to help get more great science fiction out into the market.
The acquisition includes bestselling legacy Military Science Fiction series Galaxy’s Edge, which we plan to bring to retail hardcover through our AETHON: Vault line in 2027. As a whole, Wargate published roughly 220 titles during it’s run. While that mostly includes Science Fiction and Fantasy titles—which we hope to bring to a wider audience—there are titles that don’t align with the type of content or genres we typically publish. For anything that doesn’t fit the AETHON catalog, rights will be reverted to the authors at no cost.
Just a note, any news about this acquisition found elsewhere was not approved by us and should be ignored. Vetting a catalog and sorting out rights takes time. It is why this wasn’t intended to be announced publicly until we have had the opportunity to sort all of that out. But, best laid plans and all of that.
Please bear with us as we do our best to make these difficult decisions, and get excited about Galaxy’s Edge coming to shelves for the first time in hardcover! In the meantime, the Wargate Site and Store will also continue operating independently from us as they work through their stock and fan giveaways.
